As I pull away from Union Station in DC on my way to Boston for the brand new a cappella festival, Boston Sings (BOSS), my mind peruses the catalog of events from the past month or so that have brought The A Cappella Embassy to where it is now. It’s been an interesting ride getting this project off the ground, and I’m so grateful at how well it’s been received. Things are on track to become even more than I could have imagined, and I can’t wait to see where the next few months take us.
The new website released at the beginning of March. In the month that followed, we’ve added over 20 groups to the Dossier, helped in promoting dozens and dozens of concerts and auditions in the MD, DC, and VA area through our recently renamed “Embassy Briefings” on Twitter and Facebook and the Embassy Calendar, and have grown our team 100% with more members signing up soon. We’ve helped groups join CASA’s Contemporary A Cappella League, recruited new individual CASA membership, and have opened the lines of communication to groups that have so desperately needed a larger community of singers. It has been an incredible month – and this is just the beginning.
My hope for the next month or two is to complete my DC Embassy by adding a Collegiate Diplomat and, hopefully, even a High School Diplomat that might be able to reach the thriving scholastic music programs around the district. I’ve been meeting with college groups recently, recruiting Campus Liaisons to help give us a stronger presence on campuses and am very excited to officially bring some of them officially in to the fold within the next few weeks.
One of the great parts about adding to our team is more different content. With more volunteers on our team, we are able to diversify – we are able to be in multiple places at once, seeing multiple concerts, and reporting back to you, the a cappella fan base! You will begin to see regularly updated content on our website, as well as the plethora of content we already deliver on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
So my thanks to everyone who has made this past month so successful! I’m very excited to see what happens in the months to come. For our fans out there, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to let us know. We are an organization driven by the need of our constituents and the passion of our volunteers. If you have thoughts as to how we can make things better, feel free to email us using the contact page! For now, if you’re going to be at BOSS this weekend, please come and say “Hi” to any of us with “The A Cappella Embassy” on our tag! If not, as always, keep the music alive!
